2024 Dog Licenses

Dog owners must purchase licenses for their dogs starting December 1st through January 31st for every dog over 3 months old. State law requires that all dogs must be licensed by the time they become three months of age. All unlicensed dogs can be seized and impounded as allowed under the law. Offenders can be fined up to $250 plus court costs. State law also requires that the license must be displayed on the dog. Dog owners should keep in mind that a current dog license displayed on your dog is the best form of identification. If the tag is lost a duplicate can be made for $5.00 at the Dog Pound.

ERIE COUNTY 

Due to extreme weather conditions in January, Erie County has extended the January 31st deadline to Friday February 9 at midnight. Beginning February 10, the $22 license will go up to $44.

Erie County dog owners are reminded that they must purchase 2022 licenses for their dogs starting December 1st through January 31st. The County Dog Warden says that officers will be going door-to-door to verify that all dogs are licensed. Those in violation will be issued citations.

There is a $22 penalty for late purchases in addition to the standard $22 per license and a $110 penalty for a late kennel license in addition to the standard $110 fee.
